Creative Outdoor Play
Top up your games toolkit and explore new ways to play outdoors.
Explore some outdoor games and their application, for warm ups, group dynamics, physical, social and emotional development. Then, develop your own place-based play adventures and experience where our imaginations can take us. We discuss how we could apply this to our own groups and settings and look at some of the challenges involved. You’ll leave refreshed and inspired to bring fun to your groups at any point, with minimal resources.
Reflective Creativity
Imaginative place-based outdoor ways into reflection and evaluation.
As delivered for the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL)
A day to explore reflective practice and evaluation through creative experiences outdoors and learn how to apply them with your groups.
On this training we’ll touch on a variety of approaches informed by ecopsychology, groupwork, participatory arts, questing, nature journaling, Land Art and others. This will involve reflective walks, building trails and natural artworks, guided dialogue, writing and sensory exercises. Trying out experiences for ourselves, we’ll learn new ways to incorporate reflection and evaluation into your groupwork. We will discuss how we support groups and ourselves as leaders when personal issues emerge and the challenge of building in time for reflection in an action-packed programme. You’ll come away more confident and prepared to support a group to get the most from an experience.
